Other Creatures – The First EP (EP Premiere)

Dublin-based Other Creatures, comprised of three schoolfriends – Dave Rogers (drums/vocals), Fionn Fitzpatrick (bass) and Konrad Timon (guitar/vocals) – are set to release their debut EP, the aptly titled The First EP, via Trout Records on 19 January.

Of the EP, Timon tells us: “The songs on The First EP are some of our rawest songwriting I think. Essentially these are songs that just really excited us when we came up with them and still excite us when we play them today.
“We were very influenced by bands like Pixies, Pavement and also singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith who write really melodic almost poppy songs but are still considered quite alternative sounding. Melody is always one of the most important things to us.
“The songs are more about things I was thinking at the time rather than any one specific subject, for most of the songs on the EP I remember where I was or what I was thinking when we came up [with them]. I suppose one of the most common themes is self-consciousness.”
The First EP is released on 19 Jan via Trout Records
