Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Neil Pennycook, aka Meursault, recently returned from a three-year hiatus with his brand new album, I Will Kill Again, released via Edinburgh label Song, by Toad. Many of the tracks had been previously aired under the moniker Supermoon, but Pennycook decided to make a comeback as his much-loved alias, marking the fourth Meursault LP.

We’re delighted to have the premiere of Meursault’s new music video for The Mill – of the track, Pennycook tells us: “The Mill is a semi-fictional account of the worst show I ever played. The song is about the dangers of corporate sponsorship in relation to artistic pursuits. The song is also about the ghosts of dead musicians returning from the grave to peck out the eyes of ungrateful audience members.

“The video was filmed at The Happiness Hotel recording studio where I Will Kill Again was made. As the room was so instrumental in the shaping of the album it made sense for it to get star billing. The projected red curtains are the result of a long standing fixation with The Muppet Show."

Meursault play our Eclectica Experiment event with Black Bottle on Thurs 20 Apr alongside Iklan, Future Get Down, Faith Eliott, Daniel Piper, Iona Lee and Ashanti Harris. Tickets are £10, available in advance here.
