Ahead of their first UK tour this autumn, sponsored by Edinburgh-based feminist perfume company REEK, Scottish singer-songwriter Josephine Sillars and her band The Manic Pixie Dreams are set to release their new single, Down, on 27 Oct.

Ahead of the single’s release and their upcoming tour, The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the brand new video to accompany Down. Of the song, Sillars says: "Down is a song about being apathetic towards the inevitability of change. Change is probably the only the thing in the world you can ever count on, and even if it's change you don't like, there is often not much you can do but just roll with the punches – and that's the feeling we tried to capture with this song.

"Musically it's the first song I've ever released that isn't piano led which is quite exciting! The song was co-written with my bandmate Samuel Barnfather, who also made the video, which shows the main character (played by Poppy Lironi) being pulled out of her delicate, twee environment, and down to the sea to confront her darker side. It's very useful having a bandmate who is also an excellent filmmaker."

Down is self-released on 27 Oct and will be available to buy via iTunes, Spotify and Bandcamp. Catch Josephine Sillars & The Manic Pixie Dreams live on the following dates:
