Bad Pop – On Your Own (Track Premiere)

Listen to the new single On Your Own from Canadian trio, Bad Pop

Feature by Music Team | 30 Jan 2018

Canada’s Bad Pop are Chris Connelly (vocals, guitar), Catherine Hiltz (bass, vocals, trumpet) and Aaron Klassen (drums, vocals). Their last single, released in September 2017, saw the trio paying homage to 80s icon Linda Ronstadt with the Pixies-inspired song of the same name. Following that single, Bad Pop toured the UK and ended their year in Pune, India performing at the NH7 Weekender in December.

Now firmly into 2018, the Vancouver three-piece are set to release their latest single On Your Own, which although still Bad Pop, is the absolute antithesis to Linda Ronstadt. Shuffling drums and woozy calming vocals placed over a series of samples lowdown in the mix make for an ultimately enjoyable, and utterly infectious single, which you can listen to in the SoundCloud player below.

“On Your Own explores the exhilaration and sadness of being out in the world, as a real-deal adult, on your own,” Connelly tells us. “It’s a relatable feeling for everyone who has experienced the cold reality and loneliness of adulthood – not the ‘I can vote for the first time’ type of adulthood, but the heavier kind.”

On Your Own is released on 31 Jan
