Amaroun is the latest project from London-based producer and singer-songwriter Jay Brown. Her debut single Bed Bugs was released back in November via LGM Records, the first of a series of three to be released on the label. The second, Made of Fire, is out today.

The three singles – which have all been mastered by award winning studio engineer Mandy Parnell (Björk, Aphex Twin, Jamie xx, Django Django) – document Brown coming out to her family and friends, and the emotional rollercoaster that ensued. The Skinny are delighted to be premiering the music video for Made of Fire (which you can watch in the YouTube player above), a just-short-of-three-minutes confident, jangly slice of indie-pop, which sees Brown surrounded by beautiful animation courtesy of Jaron Lionel.

“The song was written in a heightened state, in the aftermath of my coming out,” Brown tells us. “It’s a narrative progression from my previous single Bed Bugs, where I was deep in confusion, distraction and escapism. In Made a Fire I’ve found clarity in the thrill of meeting someone new. When you find that person and there’s this instant connection you can’t deny, it’s something that’s hard to describe. This song is simply gratitude in musical form for that person and that feeling.”

Currently working with artists including Slow Club's Charles Watson, LA Salami, Adam French, Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots and Swedish indie band Francobollo on a forthcoming recording project, and with upcoming shows including a headline gig at London’s Archspace, as well as an appearance at Liverpool Sound City on 5 May, Amaroun is one to keep an eye on this year.
