The Apple Scruffs @ The Admiral

a tight, jerky set crammed with catchy, raucous numbers you'll be humming three days later

While their forthcoming debut album 'Guitars4Hire' has been some 27 years in the making, openers The Zips waste no time in warming up the immaculately dishevelled crowd. The good times continue to roll with a singalong set from a slightly worse-for-wear Ronelles and by the time the Scruffs take to the stage the goodwill is flowing almost as freely as the reasonably priced beer. The eager crowd are not disappointed, treated as they are to a tight, jerky set crammed with catchy, raucous numbers you'll be humming three days later. In return the crowd sing, dance and join them onstage, all of which bodes well for Danielle. The single itself is, like both their set and their lead singer, short and very sweet. [Tali Burgess]
