Live music in Glasgow

Desperate Journalist @ Nice 'n' Sleazy, 31 Mar
Fresh from their five-star new album Grow Up, the London post-punks head north for an intimate show at Sleazy's, balancing the poetry and complex intimacies of Jo Bevan's lyrics with brute physicality and energy.

Yorkston/Thorne/Khan @ Oran Mor, 31 Mar
Yorkston/Thorne/Khan are an experimental group consisting of East Neuk's very own James Yorkston, Suhail Yusef Khan – award-winning sarangi player and classical singer from New Delhi –  and John Thorne, best known for his affiliation with electro outfit Lamb. The trio release their new album Neuk Wight Delhi All-Stars via Domino on 7 Apr and play Oran Mor tonight a week ahead of its release.

Nathan Fake @ Stereo, 31 Mar
Across town, Nathan Fake returns from a two-year hiatus, presenting his new album Providence at Stereo. On the new record, Fake seems to have moved into a more experimental phase with hints of Blanck Mass and Pantha du Prince coming to the fore – head down and find out how this new direction translates to the live arena.

Jens Lekman @ Saint Luke's, 1 Apr
The Gothenburg pop veteran's new album Life Will See You Now sees Lekman add elements of disco and Balearic house to his signature sound – catch up with Lekman at Saint Luke's.

Jessy Lanza @ Broadcast, 2 Apr
The latest in a run of late-night Night Music shows at the venue, the Canadian producer and Radio 1 resident brings her synth-heavy sound to the basement of Broadcast. Bring your dancing shoes.

Live music in Edinburgh

Johnny Flynn @ La Belle Angele, 27 Mar
The singer/actor is back, playing La Belle in support of album number three, SillionComing from the same wave of folk acts that spawned Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale, Flynn's sound is a hybrid of Americana, indie and folk.

Stillhound @ Sneaky Pete's, 28 Mar
Edinburgh trio Stillhound are back, with their new EP serving up a mixture of woozy indie-pop and angular Foals-esque guitar lines. We're premiering Let The Best ahead of its release at this show at Sneaky Pete's – read guitarist Laurie Corlett-Donald's guide to the new tracks, and hear them in the flesh at Sneaky's with support from EMILIE.

CHUMP @ Safari Lounge, 30 Mar
The Glasgow sulk-core trio launch their new single At Least We Got A Song Out Of It with a pair of shows this week. The first comes at the Safari Lounge just off Easter Road, with support from West Princes and Tongue Trap; they also play The Old Hairdresser's in Glasgow on 31 Mar, with Current Affairs, Hairband and Herbert Powell.

Gig of the Week

Frànçois and the Atlas Mountains @ Mono, 30 Mar
One of France's finest, François Marry is back with his Atlas Mountains. This tour marks the release of their fifth album – their third with Domino – Solide Mirage. Comprising members of various groups from France and the UK, including Petit Fantôme, Jaune!, Archipel and Glasgow's own Babe, together they make glorious dreamy French indie-pop. This should be a delight; support comes from fellow Domino signees and Glasgow natives Spinning Coin.
