3 Nov
Liverpool Music Week ain't quite done yet: Cat's Eyes come to town for the final show of the festival itself – you know, the alt pop duo made up of The Horrors' Faris Badwan and soprano/classical multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffira. Pretty great, all told. Leaf, 7pm, £12
4 Nov
There's also the small matter of Liverpool Music Week's Closing Party event, spread out across North Liverpool Docklands' various venues and starring the likes of Clinic, Barberos, XamVolo and many, many more. One helluva way for LMW to bow out for the year. Various venues, North Liverpool Docklands, 6pm, £6
Also tonight, catch Manchester quintet Cabbage, who serve up discordant post-punk with a neat line in wryly satirical bon mots. "We like the idea of it being pretty unlistenable at times," they told us recently, "but then it’ll go straight back to something that packs a punch." Bien sûr. Magnet, 7.30pm, £6
Brighton quartet High Tyde continue to stake their claim as one of the indie world's hottest prospects, having spent the last year honing their sound, informed by the likes of Foals and Two Door Cinema Club. Arts Club, 7pm, £4
Head over to Buyers Club for a celebration of The Mono LPs' debut album States of Decay. Theirs is a spiky brand of cello-infused rock'n'roll that's attracted praise from Elvis Costello hisself: can't be bad, eh? Be sure to head along early: support comes from Salta Mai, Jo Mary and Katie Mac. Buyers Club, 7.30pm, £5
Furrowed of brow and sharp of tongue they may be, but it's all in good fun: local puke-punks Bad Mood launch their new single Grungeblues at Maguire's tonight alongside North Wales' own Spam Javelin, who have a song called Nazi Line Dancers Fuck Off. An anthem for the ages, we're sure you'll agree. Maguire's Pizza Bar, 7.30pm, Free entry
5 Nov
Plenty of fireworks await revellers at Buyers Club tonight – with the blues and rockabilly genes evidently present in their DNA, Cabezudos celebrate the release of new single The Way, ably backed up by Rival Bones, Rossa Murray Music and Vonverras. Buyers Club, 7.30pm, £5
8 Nov
Birmingham post-harcore types Shvpes flex their melodic chops at Studio 2. With aptly-titled new album Pain. Joy. Ecstasy. Despair. just released, they'll be looking to blow the roof off the Parr St venue with an impressively cacophonous blend of riffs and mosh-worthy breakdowns. Studio 2, 7pm, £7
Finally, and continuing the week's noticeable theme of launch parties, The Jjohns hold a party of their own to mark the release of their new EP. Continuing in the Merseypop tradition of The Beatles and The La's, they also bring along Hegarty and Joe Slater for the ride. District, 8.30, £3

Difficult to believe that local DIY promoters Yeah Buddy have been knocking it out of the park for three years now, but they mark that milestone with a special, all-action line-up at Maguire's on 25 Nov: False Advertising, Mad King Ludwig & the Mojo Co., Don't Worry, Lightcliffe, Elevant and Sheepy make for an unmissable night – pick up tickets here.
