The Skinny 01

How time flies. It seems like only yesterday The Skinny team were crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s on the inaugural Northwest issue. One year and a dozen issues later and we thought we’d mark the milestone in the only manner that seemed appropriate: with a kickass party at one of our favourite venues.

With this in mind we headed down to the mighty Kazimier on 12 April with a formidable line-up of music-makers and party facilitators in tow. Big thankyous to classy opener John McGrath and his extraordinary fingerwork on guitar; to WYWH and their moody electronica, and to Patterns for their lush headline set. Also much love to the wax spinners that had us getting sweaty on the dancefloor: the Wet Play boys and Scenery Records pals Andy Ash and JA Shepherd, who delivered a feverish b2b. And don’t forget Ninetails, who kept the party flowing between acts, and Thom Isom for his mesmerizing visuals.

Big thanks should also go to Liverpool Organic Brewery for wetting our whistles with their tasty ales and Cuthbert’s Bakehouse for keeping the energy levels high with their heavenly cakes. Props, too, to the Kaz for being the perfect party venue.

And finally, a big thankyou to everyone who made it out on the night and who kept dancing with us 'til the early hours. Here’s what our photographer, Stuart Moulding, caught of the night.
