Are you a student, but would rather be in a rock ‘n’ roll band instead of writing boring essays? Do you dream of venues packed with adoring fans instead of grotty unions scattered with a handful of loyal but bored mates? Perhaps it’s time to say fuck you to higher education, enter the JD Set Unsigned initiative and quit university. Your parents will understand.

The Tennessee whisky people are offering one lucky band the chance to record a four-track EP which will be given away with popular music magazine Artrocker (yes, apparently there are others).

Everyone who enters will also be invited to a series of masterclasses by industry experts, and the nine best bands from around the country will receive professional training from music lawyers, sound engineers and record company reps.

All you need to do is upload your myspace site to www.thejdset.co.uk/unsigned or post tracks on some sort of tangible medium to JD Set Unsigned 2008, 60 Parker Street, London, WC2B 5PZ before 8 January 2009. Attaining rock stardom has never been easier.
