More Names Announced For T

Feature by Natasha Radmehr | 24 Feb 2009

Following the news that Kings of Leon, The Killers and Blur will headline this year's T in the Park, the latest raft of acts set to grace the stage were announced today.

In an apparent homage to Ts gone by, Razorlight, Elbow, Keane, Franz Ferdinand, Maximo Park, The Ting Tings and Bloc Party have all been invited back for 2009. Pop princesses Lily Allen, Katy Perry and Paolo Nutini are providing the eye candy for the weekend, presumably to counter-balance the grime that Mr Peter Doherty will bring to Balado. Meanwhile, James Morrison and Jason Mraz will no doubt be out to seduce the ladies, but the safe money's on old charmer Seasick Steve.

Felix da Housecat, Simian Mobile Disco, Silicone Soul, Slam and Beardyman are set to noise up the Slam Tent, while Mogwai, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Mars Volta and the legendary Nick Cave (flanked by his indelible Bad Seeds) respectively supply the masses with dark, sexy, cosmic and mustachioed rock.

Of course, no T in the Park line-up would be complete without a band being resurrected from the grave to play the festival; a feat to be performed this year by The Specials. Indie godfathers James and perennial arena rock titans Manic Street Preachers also join the bill.

More acts are still to be announced, including the unsigned Scottish artists who will play the T Break stage.

T in the Park 2009 takes place on 10-12 July at Balado at Balado Park.
