Music Video Premiere: Jim Valentine – ‘Hello’

Feature by News Team | 24 Nov 2014

We’re proud to present the premiere of the video for ‘Hello’ by Glasgow garage rockers Jim Valentine.

The clip – directed by Jamie Logie and filmed by Logie and Ryan McGill – mixes footage from retro film cameras with shots of the band performing the track, which is released as a double A-side alongside ‘Tripetta’ on 28 Nov.

Describing the video, the band say: “We hate it when bands act and there's a degree of ridiculousness that surrounds photo/video shoots. So we filmed the obligatory performance shots then went to (drummer) Carlo's local and got fucked up.

“Jamie and Ryan spent the remainder of the day following us around the Southside as we progressively lost our lucidity.”

Director Jamie Logie summed the video up like so: "Originally basing an idea around the simplicity of “Hello”; a word most commonly used amongst the most uncommon, I felt pushing a 20th Century Boy into a Ford Escort Drag Race with The La's would be the right way to go?

"I can't drive legally, however utilizing the luxury of Kodak Super 8 and Digital together made it easy to settle less business for more pleasure."

Jim Valentine launch the Hello/ Tripetta single on 28 Nov at Broadcast in Glasgow, and play The Macbeth in London on 5 Dec, Green Rooms in Perth on 12 Dec, Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s on 13 Dec and Buskers in Dundee on 14 Dec.
