Detour announce New Year gigs in Aviemore

Scottish guerilla gig experts Detour have announced a pair of festive gigs to bring in 2015, taking a line-up featuring Fatherson, Prides, Miaoux Miaoux and Hector Bizerk to Aviemore for a New Year two-dayer.

Julian Corrie, aka 'indie-tronic' producer Miaoux Miaoux, and rap collective Hector Bizerk play the New Year’s Eve gig at The Old Bridge Inn in Aviemore, with synth pop trio Prides and Glasgow rockers Fatherson playing sets at the same venue on New Year’s Day.

Ally McCrae and David Weaver, the duo behind the Detour Scotland podcast and online video series, are probably best known for their series of all-day jaunts across small and unusual venues in Glasgow and Edinburgh, although their planned ‘jaunt’ around Edinburgh this April was cancelled at the last minute.

The duo have also hosted larger-scale gigs in unexpected places, with Meursault, Miaoux Miaoux and Remember Remember playing the planetarium at the Glasgow Science Centre back in 2011 as part of World Space Week.

Announcing the gigs, Weaver says: "We're really excited to back at the Old Bridge Inn, which is one of our favourite wee venues in Scotland. We did Hogmanay there are few years ago, with Stanley Odd and Kitty the Lion, which was undoubtedly the best new year any of us have had.

"The highlight was probably the actor Ewen Bremner (Spud from Trainspotting) playing a bongo at 3am whilst Nick, the drummer from Kitty the Lion, did a weird tribal dance around the pub. We hope to see more of the same this year!"

Tickets for Detour’s New Year’s Eve gig are £18. Tickets for the New Year’s Day gig are £15, with two-day tickets available for £30.
