The fourth annual Get Into This or GIT Award, honouring the best of Liverpool’s underground music scene, is now open for entries.

The GIT Award is open to all musicians and groups hailing from, or based in, Liverpool, and carries a £1000 cash prize. Following an open submissions process, a panel of Merseyside scene experts will whittle the entries down to a 12-strong shortlist. The 2014 GIT Award was picked up by electronic producer Matthew Barnes – aka Forest Swords – with Lee Scratch Perry accepting the award on his behalf.

The 2015 Award gets its official launch on 1 Nov at 24 Kitchen Street as part of the Liverpool Music Week closing party. The launch will be headlined by teenage songwriter Låpsley, winner of the One to Watch prize at last year’s ceremony.

Bands, musicians and groups can enter the GIT Award by sending four of their tracks to gitaward@getintothis.co.uk. The 2015 GIT Award ceremony will take place at The Kazimier in Liverpool on 4 Apr 2015 – the main prize will be presented along with the Inspiration Award for outstanding achievement in the Liverpool scene.
