What Difference Does It Make? A documentary featuring James Murphy and Brian Eno

What Difference Does It Make? A Film About Making Music is the new feature-length documentary from Red Bull Music Academy. Helmed by filmmaker Ralf Schmerberg and Berlin production company Mindpirates, the film will be available to screen online for free from 18 February.

The list of musicians featured in the documentary is as impressive as it is wide-ranging - the film-makers have talked to Brian Eno, DFA's James Murphy, Giorgio Moroder, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Brainfeeder's Flying Lotus and Thundercat, dubstep originator SkreamErykah Badu, composer Philip Glass, Nile Rodgers, techno don Richie Hawtin, Falty DL, legendary rappers Q-Tip and Rakim, and Blondie's Debbie Harry, among others - a grand total of 62 musicians. The artists discuss the role and function of creativity and usic in their lives.

"If you think about the things we love doing - sex, drugs, art, religion - they are all about a form of surrender," says Brian Eno in the trailer below.  The film promises to be an enlightening and in-depth examination of the creative urge. We'll post the film when it is released next month.
