R.I.P. PETER O'TOOLE
Legendary actor Peter O'Toole passed away yesterday, at the age of 81. The film and stage star, who shot to international fame after playing T. E. Lawrence in David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia in 1962, went on to become one of the greats of the silver screen in the 60s and 70s, taking lead roles in such classics as The Lion in Winter, Goodbye, Mr Chips, and Man of La Mancha. With a reputation as a hellraiser, and following a battle with alcholism, O'Toole gave up drinking.

In the 80s, O'Toole starred in Supergirl and The Last Emperor, while continuing an acclaimed stage career in London's West End and worldwide. Most recently, he was seen in TV series The Tudors and as a voiceover artist for Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille. O'Toole was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar eight times without winning, the most nominated actor ever to not win an award. In 2003, he was given an honorary Oscar in recognition of his contribution to film.

The acting world queued up to pay tribute to O'Toole. Stephen Fry, on Twitter, described him as a "Monster, scholar, lover of life, genius." Director Ron Howard described him as "one of his generation's greatest talents." Ben Stiller tweeted: "One of the movie greats is gone." Simon Pegg called O'Toole "A true great."

STREET FOOD CARTEL AT GLASGOW FILM FESTIVAL
Something delicious is being cooked up for next year's Glasgow Film Festival (2-12 Feb) – the organisers have teamed up with acclaimed Glasgow street food experts, the Street Food Cartel, to plan four very special screenings, all of which take place over a plate of damn fine scran.

Converting Glasgow venue The Briggait into an impromptu restaurant-cum-cinema, they will offer screenings of GoodfellasWithnail & I, Ratatouille and When Harry Met Sally, complemented by a slap-up meal from the Street Food Cartel team. The Cartel's de facto leader, Jonathan McDonald, is looking forward to the unique pop-up events. "We aim to bring the best in world food to Glasgow through Street Food Cartel, and Glasgow Film Festival are always looking for ways to highlight the city’s unusual spaces," he said. "Collaborating on our first pop-up event is an exciting way to bring food lovers and film fans together."

GAME OF THRONES' EMILIA CLARK TO PLAY SARAH CONNOR IN TERMINATOR REBOOT
News has reached us via The Hollywood Reporter that Game of Thrones star Emilia 'Khaleesi' Clarke will be taking on the role of Sarah Connor in the new Terminator film, which also brings Arnold Schwarzenegger back to the series, reprising his role as a robot assassin from the grim meathook future.

More details have emerged about the new iteration of the Terminator franchise – the script will be penned by Laela Kalogrodis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). Alan Taylor, who worked on Game of Thrones and recently directed Thor: The Dark World, will direct the film, which is planned as the first in a new trilogy.

TRAILERS: INTERSTELLAR, HERE COMES THE DEVIL
Christopher Nolan's next film, his first since The Dark Knight Rises, is Interstellar, a science fiction epic co-written with his brother Jonathan; as ever with Nolan, the plot has been kept tightly under wraps. This week a trailer for the film has surfaced online, replete with stock footage of past space missions. The film stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, and Topher Grace.

Here Comes The Devil is a Mexican horror film about the risks of irresponsible parenting. After losing their children in a Tijuana cave system, a young couple are despondent. Then the children return.... but something strange has happened, and the kids are no longer themselves. This looks scarier than a bag full of ghosts.
