| Giving you a double drop of Acid at ICA
Inner City Acid returns to the Soundhaus on the 13th of Sep with, the two true original creators of Acid House, DJ Pierre and Phuture 303.
Back in the day when acid was just a tab Pierre and Phuture were holed up in a living room making a sound that would impact on the music scene forever….
Rewind back to 1984, Spanky and Herb Jackson search high and low throughout the city of Chicago for a Roland TB 303 just to make bass lines, DJ Pierre joins Spanky and Herb to form PHuture, the trio learn after a period of experimentation that when the box was pitched much higher than its normal operating frequencies; the squelchy psychedelic sounds enlivened their recordings; from this legendary moment in house music ‘Acid Tracks’ and a musical phenomenon was born. After the release of hit single ‘We Are PHuture’ DJ Pierre left the group to pursue his solo projects, several years and line up changes later and PHuture has evolved full circle into PHuture 303 with originator Spanky at its helm.
ICA revellers are in for a treat with a 2 hour long DJ set from Pierre, who killed it at ICA’s 3rd birthday party last Nov and an hour long live set from Phuture 303 who for many was the highlight of this years Bloc festival.
Support in the main room comes from ICA’s Monsieur DeLarge (Chicago house set) & Hologram Hookers, hailing from Glasgow and signed to DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid Digital label; expect to hear a live set of 100% old school acid house.
Room 2 features the talents of local DJ’s Samba, Candi Kane, Siren and DJ B*Licious, who will be banging out a tasty blend of house, techno and breaks.
VJ Altronix provides the visual stimulation for the night.
As well as being Glasgow’s best underground venue The Soundhaus is also the most reasonably priced, a vodka and mix is only £2.00 as are most bottles. The price for a year long membership has been reduced to £2.00 or free if you are a student. For membership info email lynn@soundhaus.co.uk
