WITHERED HAND / DAN WILLSON'S PICKS

Best Pub
So many to choose from. Waverley Tavern is maybe the most unique. Kay's Bar is a lovely pub that is really hidden away. A gem.

Best Cafe
Gaia on Leith Walk does the best Coffee I have ever tasted.

Best Food or Drink Shop
Gaia.

Best Newcomer
Illegal Jacks.

Best place... when hungover
Cargo does a mean breakfast and is nice and quiet early on, or if I can't drag myself along the canal path, Piecebox is cosy and worth a shout.

Best place... for a first date
First Coast.

Best place... for showing off
Dusit is an exceptional Thai restaurant and the new town is nice to stroll around afterwards.

Best place... when you can't hang about
Palmyra is my late night guilty pleasure.

Around the World: The Americas
Illegal Jacks, very impressive food/philosophy.

Around the World: The Indian sub-continent:
Mother India or Kebab Mahal.

Around the World: Asia
Meadowood Cafe, Chop Chop or Yo Sushi if you can face going through Harvey Nichols to get to it, Dusit is really great for Thai.

Around the World: Europe
Tail End on Leith Walk is my new favourite fish and chip shop and has a sit-in section, an unlikely location maybe but First Coast on Dalry Road is first class.

Food Hero
Zahid Khan the lovely guy who runs Kebab Mahal.
