Scotland's street food scene will host its own branch of this year's British Street Food Awards in Edinburgh this May

Some of Scotland's best street food vendors will compete in the inaugural Scottish Street Food Awards this Spring. The event, set to take place at The Pitt street food market on Edinburgh's Pitt Street from 12-14 May, is an extension of previous 'Scotland and the North' heats of the BSFAs.

The announcement comes after an exciting year for the country's street food scene, with the launch of The Pitt in Edinburgh, street food vendors taking on spaces in Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow, and a range of new street food trucks and markets opening at either end of the M8. Already in 2017, the team behind The Pitt have launched the new Food 'n' Flea market at the Waverley Arches, while Glasgow is set for its first licenced indoor street food market in the form of The Big Feed street food social next month.

The winners of this year's Scottish Street Food Awards will compete in the British Street Food Awards at the end of September. Traders interested in competing can find full details on the British Street Food website; The Pitt returns on 18 Feb, and The Big Feed launches on 4 Mar.
