Capitalism: A Love Story

Capitalism: A Love Story is a Michael Moore film, and by now we know exactly what to expect from this frustrating filmmaker. His take on the financial crisis suffers from the same failings that afflicted his earlier works. The tone alternates between sarcasm and faux-naïveté, the links between his points are clumsy, there's an overreliance on comically voiced stock footage, and he's not above shamelessly milking a child's tears to ram his point home. Aside from a few interesting anecdotes, there is little here that is truly revelatory, and when the film runs out of steam Moore resorts to playing his most tiresome card – standing outside a building with a bullhorn until he is escorted away by security. Michael Moore may be a man with the best intentions at heart but this is another sloppy piece of filmmaking, and when we've already had more than a year's worth of coverage and analysis of the banking collapse, Capitalism: A Love Story just feels like old news.

  • If MM hates capitalism so much, why doesn't he just stop spending money and withdraw all his money from the bank. I'm sick and tired of people complaining about Walmart monopoly while walking into Walmart. There are other options.

    Local banks work fine.
    Buying foreign cars works fine.
Using a DEPOSIT BOX instead of an account works fine.
VOTING DOWN TAX INCREASES works fine.

He complains about big banks getting money from the government, yet wants to increase government spending. What the hell does he think they'll spend it on.

Capitalism isn't the problem. The problem is man. Fortunately we have an impartial law guarantee in the Constitution we can rely on. We don't have to install socialism; we only have to walk to D.C. and demand the impartial constitution be allowed to work as intended.

Socialism just gives more power to a corrupt government that's allowing impartial spending so the big guys get bigger. Capitalism (when supported by a working constitution) fixes the poverty gap for those who are willing to work.

He building a broke digital mouse sensor on a broke mouse trap. Then saying the concept of a mouse trap is broken. Place the damn cheese on the trap already.
