Following on from his Hollywood-set Knight of CupsMalick turns his sights on the music business with his latest project, the long-gestating Song to Song. The new trailer for the film features struggling in-love songwriters Faye and BV – played by Mara and Gosling respectively – as they run into Michael Fassbender's industry mogul, whose introduction sees him offer up the foreboding line proferred by many an A&R man over the years: "Don't you want to make some money? You've got talent..."

The trailer also introduces Fassbender's chief love interest, Knight of Cups star Natalie Portman, before descending into a whirl of gig footage and general behind-the-scenes antics that features glimpses of the cameos from Iggy Pop and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea. Being as it's set within Austin's music scene, expect plenty of musicians to turn up in similar roles. Patti Smith, Lykke Li, the Black Lips and Florence and the Machine all feature according to IndieWire, although it’s not stated if they’re playing themselves. Arcade Fire and Iron and Wine are also rumoured to be involved in the project.
