Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars film, the eighth in the franchise, has a full title at long last. And it’s tantalising…

News just in, the title of the upcoming Star Wars chapter, Star Wars: Episode VIII, has been revealed to be The Last Jedi.

The title was announced through the official Star Wars Twitter this afternoon.

It's official. STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is the next chapter of the Skywalker saga. This December. #TheLastJedi https://t.co/ySkVwQcMTP pic.twitter.com/eHrPgbsRJq

The good news is that the word jedi – much like sheep, deer and salmon – can be both singular or plural, so the title doesn't necessarily mean they’re killing off Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) or new jedi warrior Rey (Daisy Ridley) any time soon, or that new jedi characters might not turn up in this instalment.

We’ll of course find out which jedi make the cut on 15 Dec, when Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi is released.
