Moon Dogs, the debut feature film from Welsh filmmaker Philip John, made its debut last year at Edinburgh International Film Festival and now it's set to make its way onto general release this autumn.

The synopsis describes the film as “a Celtic road trip following teenage step-brothers Michael (Jack Parry-Jones) and Thor (Christy O’Donnell) as they journey from Shetland to Glasgow for very different reasons.” They’re joined on the journey by Tara Lee’s Irish singer Caitlin, who beguiles both boys. “Passions come to a head with a music festival and an ancient Norse ceremony as the backdrop,” reads the press release.

The film has found a major fan in Irvine Welsh. The Trainspotting writer reckons "not one, not two, but three stars are born in this beautiful movie."

Director John described making the film as being like bringing up a child: “You love her, you dress her well, you teach her honesty then you boot her out the door so she can spread the word that rebellion is good.”

Ahead of Moon Dogs’ UK release, the first trailer was released today online. Have a look at the promo in the player above, or on YouTube here.
