The first Mad To Be Normal trailer drops ahead of its world premiere at Glasgow Film Festival

On 26 February, Glasgow audiences will be the first to see new RD Laing biopic Mad to be Normal, which will bring down the curtain on this year’s Glasgow Film Festival. Ahead of that world premiere, the trailer for the film has landed online, giving us the first glimpse of David Tennant as Laing.

Directed and written by Robert Mullan, the film tells the true story of how the Scottish psychiatrist became known around the world for his unconventional approaches to treating mental illness, and much of the film centers around the work he did at Kingsley Hall, the treatment centre he set up in East London in the 1960s.

Of course, Tennant has form at playing maverick doctors, and he certainly looks the part in the period getup of Paisley shirts and velvet jackets. The cast also includes Elisabeth Moss, Gabriel Byrne and Michael Gambon – the latter is reportedly joining David Tennant at the Glasgow premiere, according to Empire.
