The winners of this year's BAFTA New Talent Scotland Awards were unveiled last night at a ceremony at Drygate in Glasgow. The awards, which celebrate the diverse array of up-and-coming talent working within Scotland’s creative industries, were presented by broadcaster Muriel Gray. “This is now my fifth year hosting the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards and every year I am blown away by the pool of new talent in Scotland,” said Gray. “I wish all winners the best of luck in their future careers.”

Among this year’s winners was 24-year-old Sarah Miele, who took home the best actress award for her performance in Grimm Street, in which she played a character with muscular dystrophy. The best actor award went to 23-year-old Daniel Cameron for his role in I Am Me, in which he played a character with autism. Another big winner on the night was Michal Wdowiak, who picked up awards for best editor and writer for his work on Yogi, a film he wrote for his final year in college.

Other films to win awards were Benjamin Cresswell's The Armadillo and the Earwig, which picked up the best animation prize, Hula won for best drama, The Third Dad won for best factual film and best entertainment went to Paperclip by Kevin Murray.

Atzi Muramatsu won best composer for The Violinist; Cara Roxburgh picked up best design for her work on Tuesday; Gaby Yánez won best sound for Lemuria; and Kris Kubik's cinematography on Dipper from the Water of Leith won him the best camera/photography award.

There was a surprise guest on the night in the form of Trainspotting director Danny Boyle, who popped in to present Kris Kubik with the best new work award, which BAFTA billed as a "best-of-the-best award", as it is selected from the 12 other category winners.
