Sunset Boulevard

one of the greatest films ever made

Film Review by Graham McIntosh | 15 Jul 2006
Film title: Sunset Boulevard
While it remains one of the most commonly misquoted films in cinema history, this outstanding film is definitely one for all the collectors out there. Gloria Swanson plays Norma Desmond, a delusional star from the silent era, whose career has been all but destroyed by the introduction of sound. Desmond's performance evokes a perfect mix of pity and fear from the audience, as she desperately plans a comeback that we know will never happen. Erich von Stroheim supports brilliantly as the fading star's 'butler', and film fans will delight at the number of cameos from past legends that show up here and there – making it one of the greatest films ever made. Out now.
