Lucy Clout will be the Berwick Moving Image Artist in Residence for 2018, the festival has revealed. The Leeds-born, London-based moving-image artist, whose work is concerned with themes of loneliness, intimacy and kinship, will explore “notions of pleasure, production and reproduction” during the residence and will create “ceramics and sculptural objects that will be activated within her video work.”

The residency gives the chosen moving image artist the oppertunity to spend six months within the town to produce new work. “It is a rare and special thing to be given the time and space to make a new body of work,” said Clout. “I am excited to begin the residency in Berwick.”

Clout's previous exhibitions and screenings include Raven Row, Tate Britain and the Anthology Film Archives, New York (all in 2017); London's Limoncello (2016); and the Jerwood Space at CCA in Glasgow (2015). She was also the recipient of the 2015 Jerwood/Film and Video Umbrella award.

The outcome of the residency will be exhibited at this year's Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, which runs 20-23 September. For more information, head to www.bfmaf.org
