Primavera Sound, Barcelona, 23 May

Europe's premier music festival got underway last night with highlight sets from Sacramento future-punks Death Grips, tireless Canadian Sub Pop champs METZ, rejuvenated slacker rock daddies Dinosaur Jr (who wound up their set with a surprise appearance from Fucked Up frontman Pink Eyes), plus a live comeback from cosmic duo Fuck Buttons and the glorious return of Deerhunter.

Man of the Match, though, had to be fellow Atlantan Killer Mike, who rung in a landmark year with a career-spanning set. Our photographer Sonia Mallan caught some of the action.
