Hayley Scanlan: ‘Love Me Tender’ Comes To Glasgow

After her pop-up shop success in Debenhams’ Dundee store last year, fashion designer Hayley Scanlan will return to the store for a second installment, this time in the heart of Glasgow. From 29 May to 2 June, Scanlan will showcase her latest collection ‘Love Me Tender’ exclusively in Debenham's Scottish Flagship store situated on Glasgow’s Argyle Street, part of the city’s Style Mile.

Taking influence from the 90s cult classic film True Romance, Scanlan’s new collection ‘Love Me Tender’ is a "gentle fusion of femininity and rock n’ roll." With True Romance’s Alabama Whitman being one of Scanlan’s fashion icons, the collection portrays pretty silhouettes with a tough edge, reflecting the character’s sense of style.

Within the dynamic collection, Scanlan juxtaposes beautiful dresses and skirts with masculine elements such as bomber jackets and zips. Describing the collection as "really girly with a hard edge," Scanlan states that it is definitely her favourite to date.

Store manager of Debenhams Glasgow, Craig Barker praises the young Scottish designer’s achievement: “Hayley’s pop-up shop in the Dundee store was a great success and we can’t wait to welcome her and her designs to the Argyle Street store.” As he excitedly anticipates the upcoming collaboration, Barker comments that Scanlan’s collection will bring to the store “something fun, on-trend and unique that can’t be found elsewhere in Glasgow.”

Over the past 20 years the department store has built up the impressive Designers at Debenhams portfolio, showcasing a range of talent from emerging to established designers. The exclusive collections boast the best of British brands, including collaborations with designers such as Jasper Conran, Henry Holland, Betty Jackson, Jenny Packham and Matthew Williamson to name a few. Barker is proud to add Scanlan to the list: “As one of the UK’s most exciting young designers, Hayley will be the perfect addition to our already diverse fashion offering,” he comments.

The stunning ‘Love Me Tender’ collection will sit alongside other limited edition pieces that have been exclusively designed and created for the collaboration with Debenhams. Scanlan will be available in-store to offer helpful styling advice to customers.
