afterDARK Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show

While the St Andrews University’s charity fashion show may attract high end sponsors and pervy princes, its Glaswegian equivalent, set to take place on 21 February, will include some startlingly marvellous fashion, beautiful Weegie students and a killer afterparty. Themed afterDARK, the student-organised runway show will take place in the university’s resplendent Hunter Halls between 7.30pm and 11pm. Proceeds from tickets and drinks will go to The Beatson Pebble Appeal, a Glasgow-based cancer research and support charity, for which the organisers hope to collect over £20,000.

Rather than wearing some blah see-through dresses, models will sport clothing from a range of local and international designers. Promising newcomers include KellyDawn Riot, who made well-earned waves with her powerful graduate collection Every Blooming Thing and Colleen Leitch, whose intricately sequined garments earned her the title of Fashion Graduate of the Year 2014. Also being showcased on the night will be Scottish brands LimeBlonde, Rachel McMillan, Abandon Ship. Other brands include ARSALAN who will bring their clean lines and seriously good prints, Ten30 and Common People to provide tweedy finery and tartan enfant terrible 21st Century Kilts to show anything but sporrans. To top it off, Glasgow’s W2 is joining in with its range of beautiful menswear by Comme des Garçons, Margaret Howell, SNS Herning and Folk.

If stunning garb or good causes don’t do the trick for you, remember all models are Glasgow University students. Finally a controlled experiment to establish which faculty is fittest. (Go Physics! Woo Economics!) In case you feel future runways would benefit from your presence, make sure to wear something complicated and to look interestingly moody, because scouts from Model Team will be there scouting for the next big thing. Assuming parties with beverages and strikingly stylish attendees are your cup of tea, do stick around for the DAWN themed after party, at a tantalisingly secret location.
