Siân Would Like You to be Happy (But Knows You Probably Won’t Be)

Article by Ann-Marie Reilly | 24 Mar 2009

Siân Elizabeth Bevan wouldn’t start her show until I moved a few rows closer to the front, which I happily obliged to do because she was projecting the non-threatening persona of a six-year-old. Bevan has a gift for bonding with her audience so that you find yourself nodding along in recognition. (Be warned that this urge may mean she makes you participate, although fortunately, such bravery may be rewarded with a prize.)

The show is a meandering off-kilter trip through the mind of a madwoman-come-genius. The content is extremely personal; at times cringe-worthy, at others explosively funny. She’s not at all politically correct, is a dirty great liar and has some great tips for revenge on your ex. I see her as a less expensive alternative to life coaching because I leave her gig feeling good about myself and looking forward to my next appointment with her.

Siân would like me to be happy? Job done.
