Simon Munnery's AGM

A rambling, relaxing but brilliant afternoon show.

Excellent reviews seem to follow Munnery wherever he performs, and this year he puts on a laid-back show without much of a specific plan, content to draw on his substantial talent and wealth of past material. It's an intimate performance with flashes of brilliance, but perhaps suffers because of the lack of structure. The highlight was material from his Urban Warrior days, while the Real Sherlock Holmes sketch seemed to lack a solid plan but was filled with delightful turns of phrase and the wit and lunacy for which Munnery is renowned. Even the ending, where he read randomly from his short book, featured gems of comedy but again without any crescendo. If you are after a rambling, relaxing but brilliant afternoon show this would be perfect, since it's comedy that isn't confrontational, political, offensive or challenging like many of the in-your-face comedians now coming through the ranks, but the laughs are memorable and guaranteed.
