Robin Ince: Carl Sagan is my God, Oh and Richard Feynman Too

Article by Barrie Morgan | 19 Aug 2011

Billed more as a science show than comedy, Fringe veteran Robin Ince hosts a sweet blend of both. Ince's introduction promises an hour full of learning and laughter with guest spots from several great acts from around the festival. He hasn't put a second class stamp on this one. Delivery is instant and reassuredly satisfying.

It's an early start to the day, and what better way to start than to take a minute and contemplate the universe? It makes for a welcome distraction to the manic world of the Fringe which buzzes outside. Ince reads some Richard Feynman, discusses his love of science, and welcomes us like we are old friends meeting for tea. His intro is thoughtful, contemplative, humourous and sincere.

On this morning the guests are of the highest pedigree: Dave Gorman makes an appearance, making it hard to believe we're getting all this for free. The comedians will vary from day to day but Ince's pulling power and eye for what will work ensure you won't be disappointed.

Ince closes with some Carl Sagan, allowing us to go back into the ceaseless hustle and bustle of the Edinburgh Fringe a little more at ease.
