Album title: A Decade of Dancefloor Jazz
Artist: Messin' Around
Label: Freestyle Records
The release of 'Messin' Around: A Decade of Dancefloor Jazz' marks the 10th anniversary of Messin' Around; the club night held weekly at the world famous Jazz Café in Camden, London - and the longest running event in the Jazz Café's history. Guest DJs such as Rainer Truby and Patrick Forge have graced the decks as well as world famous artists such as Roy Ayers and The Fatback Band performing on stage. The CD provides a double serving of dancefloor jazz, soul, funk, disco, breaks, boogie and Latin sounds. Opening up with the enticing Ever After, it contains a number of exclusive tracks appearing on CD for the first time such as the South Bronx Community Youth Project, the Elizabeth Shepard Project (a cracking tune) and closing with Get Off the Ground (Bottom End version), one of the rarest jazz records around. A must-have purchase, something on there is sure to get your toes tapping. [Natalie Doyle]
