Losoul - What Radio?

Better suited to chilling out the morning after than dancing the night away

Single Review by Karen Taggart | 16 May 2006
Single title: What Radio?
Artist: Losoul
Label: Playhouse
The first track on this new release from Germany's Losoul (Peter Kremeier) called 'Cut So Sweet' is full of sugary bass lines and beats. The rather melancholic touch means it's more suited for the backroom of your local trendy bar rather than cutting it on the dance floor of your favourite club. However, second track Back Wash Rider consists of faster, harder breaks and beats, which are a whole lot groovier and easier to boogie to. This tune includes the persuasive percussion and style that is typical of the Losoul sound, proving that he can indeed be punchier than the sweet tingles of track one. What Radio? is twenty-three minutes of smooth, sweet vibes and laid-back melodies, where Losoul draws on his love of funk and soul, but this release is better suited to chilling out the morning after than dancing the night away.
