Jones sets his Green Velvet material on a bed of dark, persistent, dirty beats

Chicago's Curtis Jones is undoubtedly one of the top producers of house music in the world. His work as Green Velvet especially continues to fascinate and gain legions of new devotees. Jones sets his Green Velvet material on a bed of dark, persistent, dirty beats, while adding his own warped vocal flourishes with his wonderful sense of humour. He returned to Edinburgh once again for the final UFreak to be held at Edinburgh's Venue. It is safe to say the night was a success, and Green Velvet achieved what he set out to do, playing to a chock-a-block dance floor. He played an almost flawless set, dropping classics Flash and Leave My Body to rock the house until the wee hours. It's always a great feeling when the performer you pay good money to see plays an extended set filled with toe-tappingly funky tunes. One thing is for sure, Green Velvet simply exudes fun, especially if the big smile on his face is anything to go by. [Natalie Doyle]
