Fake Blood's debut appearance at the Subby fills the venue to the brim and David McNamara clings to the rafters for dear life

How’s Your Party? sure know how to get 2009 off to a flying start. Their first event of the year hosts 2008’s man of mystery Fake Blood, who burst into the limelight with a flurry of inspired remixes and left the world asking, “Who the hell is this guy?”

The secret is out thanks to his first ever interview in this month’s Mixmag but the excitement surrounding his fresh blend of techno, rave and house remains. Fake Blood, formerly known as Touche from the Wiseguys, breaks in an eager crowd gently with his infamous remix of Little Boots’ Stuck On Repeat and builds the momentum through to a climax of last year’s dancefloor hit, Mars. Just for good measure, he throws in a warped rendition of Green Velvet’s La La Land and the crowd positively overflows with excitement.

This is Fake Blood’s first venture up to Scotland but something tells me it won’t be his last. Be prepared to witness this man at a much larger venue on his next trip because the capacity Sub Club crowd threatened to get out of control after waiting for several hours in the cold just to catch a glimpse of techno’s next great icon.
