Stepback @ Wee Red Bar, 19 Nov

There have been a vast amount of new music genres cropping up since the beginning of the decade, UK Funky being one of the most recent. UK Funky is essentially the bastard child of house, garage and dubstep, and it’s truly a great thing to see some of the biggest names in Funky descend upon the capital this month.

Welshman Mial Watkins, aka Doc Daneeka, is without a doubt the up and coming star of the scene. His signature sound of syncopated beats and enthralling polyrhythms has gained him much support from the likes of L-vis 1990, Jackmaster, Roska and Mary Anne Hobbs to name but a few. Having just provided Ramp Recordings' offshoot label, Pattern, with two fantastic releases, as well as recently remixing Funky anthem of the moment Fatherless by Breach, Doc Daneeka has quickly established himself as one of the Funky elite.  Catch him playing alongside bass fanatics Paranoise (Volume), Wolfjazz and Kyte at The Wee Red Bar on 19 November.
