Missing Persons Club presents: Dr. Rubinstein @ La Cheetah Club, Fri 5 May

After making her Scottish debut in Edinburgh last month, the enigmatic Dr. Rubinstein returns to these parts for a headlining show at La Cheetah. The Israeli-born, Berlin-based DJ has been turning heads on the techno scene thanks to impressive sets at Berghain, Oval Space and Sonar Festival. With no productions or label affiliations to her name, she’s proved her talent through good old word-of-mouth buzz – don’t miss your chance to catch her in La Cheetah’s intimate surrounds (£8+bf).

Supermax Celebrating 5 Years at Berkeley Suite @ The Berkeley Suite, Sat 6 May

This underground disco dance party has been running for ten years and counting, but this weekend marks a half decade of Supermax's joyous union with The Berkeley Suite. Expect all manner of disco fireballs from resident DJ Billy Woods. He's also put together a turbo-charged playlist together for us to mark the occasion (£8 OTD).

Subculture: The Black Madonna [Sub Club XXX] @ Sub Club, Sat 6 May

Sub Club’s 30th birthday celebrations continue this month, with this particular instalment headed up by an act who needs little introduction. The Black Madonna dropped the 10-minute-long disco pearl He Is The Voice I Hear in January – her first production since 2013 – fingers crossed it will make an appearance in her latest Subbie set. Tickets have predictably been snapped up online, but there will be 100 tickets available on the door on the night.

WD 06: 1st Birthday with Ivan Kutz (Platform 18) @ The Wee Red Bar (ECA), Fri 5 May

"A celebration of the senses" is in store for WD's 1st Birthday celebrations, led by Platform 18 selector Ivan Kutz. His Platform 18 parties host a plethora of underground talents in some of Glasgow's most unlikely yet rave-worthy locations. Joining Ivan will be WD resident Joe Highet, provding ample grooves for the earlier hours. And since it's their birthday, WD have also promised full party decor alongside special lighting and visuals (£5+bf).

My Mental Life presents A Fundraiser for UK Mental Health Foundation @ Studio 24, Sat 6 May

Brought to you by My Mental Life, “an ongoing project which examines the best ways to manage mental health conditions”, this fundraiser for the UK Mental Health Foundation offers a night of entertainment from some of Edinburgh’s much loved DJs and artists. Featuring Floating Boy, Lou Thomas, Ming Mong, Parksy, Shona Hardie and Trendy Wendy, the event aims to smash the myths surrounding mental health by bringing everyone together on the dancefloor and raising money for a very worthy cause. Entry is £5 and all donations go to the UK Mental Health Foundation, with art produced on the night also being raffled off for charity.

Jackhammer: DJ Funk (Dance Mania) and Gary Beck @ The Caves, Sat 6 May

Dance Mania legend DJ Funk is is known for merging hip-hop and Chicago house, and he's responsible for the classic cuts Work It, Run UK and Video Clash. He's joined by Glasgow producer Gary Beck, who is himself responsible for a host of techno floor-fillers. Plus there's support from Keyte and Wolfjazz, sound from DandB and visuals by VJ S2 (£10+bf).

Headway 13th Birthday with Ben Sims @ The Reading Rooms, Fri 5 May

With over two decades of experience under his belt, Ben Sims’ sets are powerful, memorable, and unique, and have cemented him as one of the most in-demand techno artists around. His show at Headway a couple of years ago was a Reading Rooms highlight, so he makes a fitting guest to lead this Friday night birthday bash.

It’s a lineup that speaks for itself, really. Take 90s Japanese house pioneer Soichi Terada, Optimo's JG Wilkes and Glaswegian disco king David Barbarossa, and what do you have? One hell of a Friday night party, that’s what (£10+bf).

Nicolas Jaar (Live) @ Barrowlands, Glasgow, Thu 1 Jun

Chilean electronic music producer, mixing engineer and DJ extraordinaire Nicolas Jaar makes a highly anticipated return to Scotland, following his archetypal 2016 release Sirens (£18.50+bf).

i AM: Boat Party & Afterparty with Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) @ Riverside Museum/Sub Club, Glasgow, Tue 6 Jun

The sixth annual i AM Boat Party has been announced, with Beta & Kappa taking control of the decks on board, and Joe Goddard of Hot Chip playing all night long at the SS Sub Club for the after party. The boat party ticket gets you entry and bus transport to the after party (£22+bf) or if you can't make it for the seafaring, you can still join the party at Subbie for £7.
