Bigfoot's Tea Party with Peter Van Hoesen @ Sub Club, Fri 21 Jul

It's techno time at Subbie this Friday, with a three-hour set courtesy of Belgium’s Peter Van Hoesen. The Berlin-based Van Hoesen has released countless records on his own label Time to Express, as well as imprints like Tresor and Dekmantel's UFO label. A stalwart of the dance music industry, his sound has consistently evolved over the years, ensuring that he's always firmly at the forefront of the techno scene (£10+bf).

Sofay @ The Art School, Fri 21 Jul

Each Friday in July The Art School are hosting a selection of club flavours – this week's edition puts Glasgow-based DJ and radio host Sofay in the spotlight. Sofay broadcasts Self Service on Subcity Radio, and she has also cooked up guest mixes for the likes of Palms Trax and Vancouver's Mood Hut label. Expect lots of grooving house tunes, with a very nominal entry free (£3/£4).

iNCEPT Summer Special @ SWG3, Sat 22 Jul

SWG3's iNCEPT Summer Special is back, following on from the success of last year's event. This year, catch Johannes Heil, Kim Ann Foxman, Hans Bouffmyhre, Lex Gorrie and more for a 10 hour long house and techno marathon. Lindsay Green put together a Guest Selector playlist this month to get you in the dancing spirit, check that out here. (£15+bf).

Telfort's Good Place: Baaz @ Sneaky Pete's, Fri 21 Jul

Telfort's theme of bringing favourite DJs over to the capital continues this weekend, when Sneaky Pete's welcomes Berlin producer, DJ and label head Baaz. Baaz, AKA Bastian Volker, runs Office Recordings, and his own output focuses on deep, wistful house music. Give his recently released The Reason EP a spin to get yourself acquainted with this unsung talent (£5+bf).

Heverlee at New Waverley @ New Waverley Arches, Fri 21 to Sun 23 Jul

Edinburgh’s New Waverley Arches will be transformed into a contemporary Belgian beer garden this weekend, as Heverlee beer launches a three-day micro-festival on Belgian National Day (21 Jul). There will be a street food market, murals and art installations, film screenings and plenty of cold beer, with a killer lineup of DJs including Eclair Fifi, David Barbarossa, Linkwood and House of Traps soundtracking the party. And guess what? Entry is free!

Festival Watch

The final wave of acts has been revealed for Morocco’s Oasis Festival (14-17 Sep), and the completed line-up is looking particularly banging. Jackmaster will headline the last day of the festival, with a b2b performance with Studio Barnhus co-founder Axel Boman. The bill also features Marcel Dettmann, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, Kink, Charlotte De Witte, Dr. Rubinstein, Nicolas Jaar, and many more across four days in Marrakech. If you’ve done the whole European dance festival thing, Oasis Festival is definitely worth checking out this September.
