Clubs in Glasgow:

Nicolas Jaar (Live) @ The Barrowland Ballroom, Thu 1 Jun

At just 25 years of age, Chilean-American whiz kid Nicolas Jaar has marked himself as a prodigious talent, not least with his most recent release, last year’s inimitable LP Sirens. He’s also known for issuing eclectic and explorative releases on his label Other People, and for his work as one half of the ambient duo Darkside. A live show from Jaar in the cavernous Barrowland Ballroom is set to be something special (£18.50+bf).

Shapes presents Ivan Kutz (Platform 18) @ Fubar, Stirling, Fri 2 Jun

Yes, it's in Stirling not Glasgow, but this Shapes party featuring the talents of Platform 18 party starter Ivan Kutz is no doubt going to be worth travelling for. Ryan Hamblett, Chris No-Fi and Mark Devlin will be handling the warm up duties, entry is only £6, and it's the latest installation in a string of Shapes parties that are reviving the nightlife of Scotland's smaller cities.

A Love From Outer Space/Transmission @ The Art School, Sat 3 Jun

The second ALFOS of 2017 is happening this weekend, and it's a summer break up party of sorts, with Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston touching down in Glasgow before their busy schedule of clubs and festivals kicks off. Weatherall's Music's Not For Everyone is on from 8pm and entry is free, so get down early and see what delights he has in his record bag, before the main show at 11pm (£9/£7 student concession).

Clubs in Edinburgh:

Goodbye Studio 24 @ Studio 24, Fri 2 Jun

It's time to come together, dry your tears and celebrate the many good times had at Studio 24 with one last shindig this Friday night, before the club's doors shut sadly for good. Fourbyfour and Asylum will be playing house and techno downstairs, with Shake Yer Shoulders providing plenty of dirty drum n bass, jungle and break beats upstairs. As the Studio 24 crew themselves put it, "it's sad to see one of the last alternative music venues go in Edinburgh. Rest assured we won't be leaving the place quietly!" (£5+bf).

Firecracker Recordings present Heal Yourself & Move @ Sneaky Pete’s, Sat 3 Jun

Whodamanny, aka Raffaele Arcella, is an Italian producer who crafts experimental, left-of-centre tunes. A central figure in the Early Sounds Recordings collective, he’s one of the founders of Periodica Records, and also plays under aliases The Normalmen and The Mystic Jungle Tribe. Catch him in the capital as part of this Firecracker/Unthank label showcase (£7+bf).

Joe Goddard (Hot Chip/The 2 Bears) @ Sneaky Pete's, Wed 7 Jun

Not only is Joe Goddard a leading member of the indie dance group Hot Chip, and half of the house duo The 2 Bears, he's also a pretty excellent DJ. Goddard heads up his own label Greco Roman (first home to Disclosure, among others), and he's just released a new album of his own, Electric Lines. Catch him for this special mid-week set for only a fiver (plus bf).

Clubs in Dundee:

All Good presents Jasper James @ The Reading Rooms, Sat 3 Jun

Local favourite Jasper James continues his busy rise to the top, with a mini-tour in India recently wrapped up, on the back of his dancefloor ready EP release Dirty Wrong. Pre-show playlist? The freshly issued Live from Mitchell Street mix, the third in a series with his pal (and housemate) Jackmaster. Tickets are down to final release, so be quick if you don't want to miss this party (£14+bf).
