Platform 18 3rd Birthday @ West Street, Sat 24 Sep

They epitomise Glasgow's knack for hosting parties in every nook and cranny of the city, and now unique club event Platform 18 is celebrating three years of Glasgow's most distinctive parties. The West Street festivities will be led by London-based DJ, producer and label owner Archie Hamilton, plus additional tunes courtesy of Platform 18 founder and resident DJ Ivan Kutz and fellow resident Niz.

The location? Beneath two railway bridges on the south side of the Clyde, just outside West Street subway station. And you'll feel good in the knowledge that £1 of each ticket sold will be donated to mental health charity SAMH.

RA in Residence – Barnt, Virginia and Harri & Domenic @ Sub Club, Sat 24 Sep

Sub Club's star run in Resident Advisor's In Residence series continues this weekend with the minimalist German techno DJ/producer Barnt. Shining a limelight on the world's top clubbing venues through a series of specially curated nights, this Saturday's lineup also features pop-house producer Virginia and Sub Club favourites Harri & Domenic.

DJ Food AV Set @ Drygate, Sun 25 Sep

To one of the East End's best drinking spots comes DJ Food, the electronic music project currently headed by Kevin Foakes, aka Strictly Kev. Originating in 1990 on the premise of providing metaphorical 'food for DJs', Strictly Kev has been the sole remaining member for over a decade, and the event promises "an incredible full audio visual show: a sensory overload that takes you on a journey from leftfield hip-hop, electronica, jazz and hypnotic psychedelia, all woven through a sci-fi lens".

If that auricular experience washed down with a craft brew wasn't enough, jazz-inspired Ministry of Sound tour resident Rebecca Vasmant and Mr Tuner, the man behind Glasgow's premier cassette tape imprint Handpicked, make up the rest of the bill.

Coming Up...

Next month the Red Bull Music Academy lands in Glasgow for the second consecutive year, after a bumper outing in 2015 that featured appearances from the likes of Danny Brown and Optimo. From 13 – 16 October, the city will play host to a groudbreaking series of shows, lectures and workshopsD Double E will be carrying the baton from previous stop Liverpool for GLA x LDN, where two cities’ grime scenes sit side by side, as DEE and Rinse resident Sir Spiro headline a bill with Jammz, Capo Lee, Jack Dat, DJ Milktray b2b Rapture 4D and Bushido.

Elsewhere, highlights include Kompakt mainstay Kölsch, who takes his live show to the Barrowland Ballroom before hitting Sub Club for the afterparty, while keeping things rumbling below the city streets, local label Numbers have Lorenzo Senni, Denis Sulta and General Ludd lead the descent into a secret, never before used venue. A launderette becomes an unlikely clubbing venue as local hero Jackmaster and NTS resident Throwing Shade oversee the intimate Discospin, and La Cheetah will host New York’s noted party slayers Mister Saturday Night for a 7th Birthday bash across the club’s two floors, featuring Actress, Beatrice Dillon, Lukid and La Cheetah residents Wardy and Dom D’Sylva

Book Ahead...

Hamburg's Helena Hauff returns to Glasgow following her most recent appearance at La Cheetah back in April, which saw her melting the decks with a dark, driving set that stood in contrast to her pleasant off-stage demeanour (the Golden Pudel alumni could be seen affably posing for selfies with crowd members during Lory D's warm-up set). This time, the producer of last year's machine-heavy Discreet Desires takes centre stage at Sub Club, with support from Wrick (Bigfoot's Tea Party). 21 Oct, £10.
