Marie Davidson (Minimal Wave) @ The Flying Duck, Fri 13 Jan

Marie Davidson is one of Montreal's finest electronic exports. Her third solo effort, last year's standout Adieux Au Dancefloor, luxuriates in glamourous dark synth wave and spoken word poetry. Released on Cititrax (sublabel to the cult Minimal Wave imprint) the album blends English and French lyrics and brooding electronica and the result is one hell of an immersive experience – much like Davidson's famed live shows.

Completing the line up are The Modern Institute and SueZuki, with the former arguably one of the most interesting underground electronic acts to come out of Glasgow. Formed as a collaboration between Rich McMaster, Laurie Pitt and James Stephen Wright, their live show crosses the boundaries of industrial music, techno, warped spoken word and performance art. Meanwhile, SueZuki, the new solo project of Alicia Matthews, promises 'an awesome clash of broken beat techno with cold and beautiful vocals over sparse synth lines'. And if that isn't enough to get excited about, MR TC (Optimo Music) and Daniel M (NOTJ) will be playing records before, in between and after the live acts (£7+bf).

30 Years of Acid House @ La Cheetah Club, Sat 14 Jan

With 2017 marking the 30th anniversary of the birth of Acid House, La Cheetah are kicking off the year with 'a full night completely dedicated to the iconic sound of the Roland 303 synthesiser'. Expect classic tunes all night long, with Bosco, Rob Mason and Vasmant on hand to guide us down a memory lane filled with deep, deep basslines, squelching synths, and yellow smiley faces (£5 before 12am, £7 after).

Animal Farm: Setaoc Mass @ The Art School, Sat 14 Jan

SK11 label boss Setaoc Mass – aka Sam Coates (get it?) – makes his Scottish debut on Animal Farm this Saturday with support from Quail and Turtle. Now based in Berlin, the Manchester-born Coates credits his hometown for his introduction to techno music. Coates' most recent EP, the four-track collection Cycles, was released last month; ahead of his Glasgow gig, we spoke with him about some of the stand-out tunes in his record collection (£5+bf).

Book Ahead

If you're hankering after some disco-minded percussion samples, cosmic synths and lively beats, mark Jacques Renault's upcoming show in your diary. The New York-based dance music veteran and Let's Play House co-founder stops in at The Berkeley Suite on Sat 28 Jan with support from Glasgow underground hero OOFT!

Meanwhile, fans of the aforementioned Minimal Wave imprint can catch Veronica Vasicka at La Cheetah Club on Fri 10 Feb, when Kunst bring the Minimal Wave/Cititrax label boss to our shores for their first show of 2017. Dom D'Sylva and Kris Bell take on the warm up duties, ensuring quality tunes from start to finish.
