Emergency, with Alex Pe Win, The Universal, Glasgow, Mar 11

A soulful blend of Disco, Italo and deep classics

Article by Colin Chapman | 17 Mar 2006
March's instalment of disco-loving monthly Emergency will see a guest appearance by London based DJ Alex Pe Win, joining resident Andrew Back. Renowned for organising and playing at the capital's more underground parties and clubs, he's appeared regularly at the legendary Plastic People venue and performed resident duties at the Hoxton Pimps warehouse events. Alex's talents have also been recognised across the water, seeing him play alongside Theo Parrish and Metro Area's Darshan Jesrani at New York's Halcyon, while closer to home they've earned him a call-up to the Attica Blues All Stars. He also forms one third of the Voices collective, set-up alongside Cedric Woo and DJ Ramar with residencies across east London, while more recently he's been named as one-to-watch in 2006 by style mag I-D. Expect to hear a soulful blend of Disco, Italo and deep classics, hopefully re-creating a hint of that warehouse vibe he's so famous for. More on the Emergency residents Andrew Back and Niall Connolly, who also run the fantastic web-zine Discopia, in next month's Skinny.
