Telfort’s Good Place: Smallpeople (Smallville Records) @ Sneaky Pete’s, 22 July

In addition to being absolutely class DJs in their own right, Smallpeople – aka Julius Steinhoff and Just von Ahlefeld (or Dionne) – run the Smallville Records label and shop in Hamburg’s uber-cool St. Pauli. Going strong since 2006, the label has released a swag of standout music, and like their record store, Smallpeople’s sets are a diverse affair, taking in deep house grooves as well as a nod to Detroit techno. Support on the night comes from local star Telfort, himself a not-to-be missed maestro of minimal, organic house music.

Samedia Shebeen x Cross The Tracks @ La Belle Angele, 22 July

Also on Friday night, the Edinburgh Jazz Festival's Cross The Tracks series continues with a night of global electronica at La Belle. Expect old and new sounds from across the globe, with the tunes ranging from African beats to Latin American rhythms and New Orleans grooves.

Definition Summer Resident’s Showcase @ Sneaky Pete’s, 23 July

Sneaky Pete’s longest running club night – tagline, 'Underground House and Techno since 2007' – returns this Saturday for a resident’s summer showcase. Get ready to dance until you have holes in the soles of your shoes as resident duo Mark Balneaves and Martin Lightbody return to the turntables, laptops and FX units to play a selection of underground house and techno inspired by the likes of Sonar, Fabric, Pressure and Berghain. Free before 12.

Coming Up...

Fly Open Air Festival, Princes St Gardens, 24 Sept

Here’s one event you should definitely have to on your radar – we may only be in July right now, but September is set to be hot, hot, hot when FLY presents Edinburgh's first inner city open air one day festival, at one of the most iconic locations in the world – the foot of Edinburgh Castle.

There’s a killer line-up in store, with celebrated Berlin-based duo Booka Shade just announced as a headline act, plus Motor City Drum Ensemble, Mr G, Detroit Swindle, Harri & Domenic, FLY resident DJs AND Edinburgh’s own Theo Kottis rounding out the all-star bill. Kottis will also play the after-party hosted by The Liquid Room, in conjunction with a surprise special guest. Tickets here.
