Kano: Made In The Manor Tour @ The Liquid Room, Wed 12 Oct

The award-winning East London-raised MC will be performing live at The Liquid Rooms, and with grime proving an exciting emerging genre in Scotland, it's prime time to catch Kano as part of his massive UK tour. Ahead of the show, The Skinny chatted to the MOBO and Mercury prize nominated MC about collaboration, competition and multiculturalism at the heart of his music. A huge line up of supporting acts is still TBA; the show is 14+ (under-16s must be accompanied by an adult).

Nightvision presents Electrikal x Xplicit with My Nu Leng + Dread MC @ La Belle Angele, Sat 15 Oct

For fans of bass and sound-system culture, Nightvision have it covered again as they invite My Nu Leng to perform alongside Dread MC at La Belle Angele this Saturday. The Bristol duo have been smashing it all summer – playing back-to-back with Oneman and tearing the roof off a number of festival tents in the process – so expect a set filled with rollicking, bouncy bass from the off. Warm-up tunes come courtesy of Deadbeat UK and Klient, and the sound on the night will be supplied by the mammoth Electrikal Soundystem.

Oxjam Edinburgh Takeover 2016 @ Grassmarket Community Project, Sat 15 Oct

As the full force of Hurricane Matthew's devastation in Haiti becomes apparent, there's no more fitting time to get yourself along to the Oxjam Edinburgh Takeover. The inner-city music festival brings together some of Edinburgh's best emerging live acts – Numbers Are Futile, Tongue Trap, The Urban Folk Crowd, Chuchoter, Delighted Peoples, Esther Swift, CUTTINGS, Kapil Seshasayee, BLACK INTERNATIONAL, and Alex Maxwell – with access to five venues around the Old Town.

Every single penny raised goes to Oxfam's Emergency Fund, which provides clean drinking water and sanitation to communities hit by disaster. Now in its tenth year, Oxjam Music Festival has raised over £2.5 million to help eradicate poverty, and the goal for 2016 is to add another £4,000 to that number. Dig deep, and party hard.

Book Ahead...

One thing to be said for the colder months is that they bring with them a slew of top tier club nights. Case in point, these upcoming Edinburgh offerings. Firstly, Leon Vynehall takes to the decks on Friday 2 December with support from Herd. Vynehall marks himself as one not to miss with Rojus, one of this year's standout house releases (Cabaret Voltaire, £10 + bf).

Further afield, Daniel Avery's DJ Kicks tour show at Sneaky Pete's is already sold out, but mark the date in your calendar as there'll be tickets on the door if you get there early (14 Dec, £10); you'll also want to snap up tickets for Nightvision's Kölsch date on 17 December, with support tunes courtesy of Edinburgh's own Theo Kottis and more guests TBA (£17.50 + bf).
