Don't-miss parties this week:

Fri 29 Jul

Annabel Fraser
Eastern Bloc, 6pm, free

Continuing their run of instore events, Eastern Bloc provide your weekend warmup this week with NTS Radio resident Annabel Fraser. Post-work chill on Stevenson's Square with good sound, good drinks and good people? No excuses really.

Inside Out 1st Birthday with Beautiful Swimmers
Soup Kitchen, 11pm, £10

Finally! We've been banging on about this for weeks and now the time is actually nigh for a good ol' drenching from beachy heads Beautiful Swimmers, celebrating Inside Out's first birthday. Grab a kazoo.

Hidden HQ Favs w/ Greg Wilson, Krysko & more
Hidden, 11pm, £8/£10

The latest in Hidden's series of events presenting some of their favourite DJs welcomes Wallasey legend Greg Wilson and Warehouse Project resident Krysko. Two reliable choices for a Friday night, in one of Manchester's most atmospheric spaces.

Sat 30 Jul

Oddysia Festival launch party w/ Boo Williams
Hidden, 11pm, £8/£10

The extremely tasty-looking Odyssia festival in Greece in early September has a strong Manc showing on its lineup so it's more than appropriate for Hidden to host a launch party – and it's a looker, too, with Chicago's second-gen house legend Boo Williams leading proceedings.

Better Days & Groovement presents Tall Black Guy
First Chop Brewing Arm, 10pm, £8

Seems like the guys at First Chop had the time of their lives last time Tall Black Guy played their gaff, so they've invited him back for their combined birthday party and the fortune of everyone in general. He's joined by First Word Records labelmate Konny Kon and more. If First Chop isn't already one of your fave party spaces, it soon will be.

Moving Metals
with Beatrice Dillon, Sean Canty & Felix Hall
Soup Kitchen, 11pm, £5

If you like your dancing challenging, look no further than this exceptional bill at Soup Kitchen, with Karen Gwyer collaborator Beatrice Dillon leading Demdike Stare's Sean Canty and Trilogy Tapes' Felix Hall on an aural adventure.

Zutekh presents Margaret Dygas
Soup Kitchen, 5 Aug, 10pm, £12.50

The first two waves of tickets for this have sold out, so you might wanna get on it sooner rather than later: deep, dubby sounds from Berlin-based but internationally-informed Margaret Dygas, a Panorama Bar resident with a fondness for jazz.

No Hassle x Unity Radio presents Yousef
Gorilla, 6 Aug, 11pm, £8-£15

No Hassle and Unity Radio present Yousef (Circus), whose last appearance in Manchester was a sell-out success. Support comes from Lewis Smith, Brian Murphy, Mike Lavercombe and Ryan Croft. Listen to some of Yousef's faves here.

Doodle's 5th birthday w/ Francis Inferno Orchestra
Soup Kitchen, 26 Aug, 11pm, £6-£10

It's Doodle's fifth birthday (toot toot!), so to celebrate with something a little bit special, they're inviting Australia's Francis Inferno Orchestra along for some dreamy house wizardry.

Warehouse Project 2016
Various dates from 23 Sep, Store Street Warehouse

It's back! It's only been on sale a week and a shedload of nights have sold out already, of course. Highlights from this year's Warehouse Project programme with tickets still available include a third birthday bash from Manchester hip-hop crew Levelz, a by-now traditional Bugged Out! love-in with Daniel Avery, Jeremy Underground and Jimmy Edgar, and a fucking heavy one from The Ape with Danny Brown, Wiley, Oneman and Wookie. Here's our round-up; full details over at the WHP website.

Festival watch

Book ahead for Moovin (26-28 Aug, Etherow Country Park, South Manchester), which looks like it'll have some right lovely feels – not least from Ruf Dug, Moonboots & Boardman, Justin Robertson and Red Laser Records head honcho DJ Woody, among others.
