It's a relatively quiet week on Manchester's clubs scene in terms of big names – presumably bottling them all up 'til the bank holiday – but there's still plenty to dig, including another Fiktion night with beats from Portugal's Príncipe Discos label

Chamber presents Tinfoil (Sunil Sharpe & DeFeKT) @ Soup Kitchen, 19 May 

Together, underground techno fave Sunil Sharpe and Matthew Flanagan aka DeFeKT are Tinfoil: a live duo bringing something new to the table with live vocals and raw analogue sounds. Catch their Manchester debut with top support from Binary and Eastern Bloc's Kerrie. There's also a free pre-party over at Eastern Bloc, natch. From 11pm, £10

Príncipe X Fiktion @ Hidden, 20 May

Hot on the heels of their trance party at the White Hotel with Lorenzo Senni, Fiktion return with a trio of exceptional producers from Lisbon’s contemporary dance music platform Príncipe Discos: DJ Marfox, DJ Firmeza and DJ Niggafox. The label's first night in Manchester, they're supported by the Fiktion crew: Croww, Ashok and Hess++. From 10pm, £8

Distinct Manchester 1st Birthday w/ Djebali @ Hidden, 26 May 

Distinct celebrate their first year of putting on parties with Parisian maestro Djebali, who's held residencies at some of the world's best clubs including Rex in Paris and DC10 in Ibiza. Support comes from Mondé & DR, and Sciran & Shaw James. From 10pm, £9 (£8 student) 

Electric Chair presents A Return to NYC w/ Francois K @ The Refuge, 26 May 

We've been looking forward to this one for a while. The Electric Weekender (26-28 May) sees legendary Manchester DJs the Unabombers team up with Ibiza institution Pikes and Croatian festival Love International to present a three-day party taking over all the spaces of The Refuge at the Principal hotel, and it all kicks off with a ticketed basement set from New York DJ François K on Friday night. Byron the Aquarius @ Soup Kitchen, 28 May 

Responsible for bringing some of the world's most vibrant underground sounds to Manchester, promoters Banana Hill smash it once again with this booking, welcoming synth wizard Byron the Aquarius for his city debut. Having journeyed through hip-hop and house, working with the likes of Flying Lotus and releasing through Theo Parrish's label, he pushes his own distinct and highly danceable brand of Atlanta-spawned weirdness. Get in there early. From 11pm, £8
