Don't-miss parties this week:

Fri 19 Aug

El Diablo's Social Club – free summer party
Gorilla, 11pm, free before 11.45pm, £7 on the door thereafter

Manchester's authentic disco dealers El Diablo's are treating you good this Fri, with a free warm-up for the rest of the weekend's festivities at Gorilla from 11am to 4pm. We're promised a special guest among their usual balearic wanderings. Who needs Vitamin D? Grab yr tickets for free entry here.

Black Bee Soul Club
Aatma, 11pm, £3

One of our favourite parties, Black Bee Soul Club is now in its fifth year and still pushing those gritty uptempo numbers. This weekend, Stuart Raith and Andrew Scott join the Black Bee residents.

Soup Kitchen 6th birthday: Part 2
with Move D & Herron
Soup Kitchen, 11pm

The second part of Soup's mega birthday bash welcomes the man, the legend: the one and only Move D. This is sold out but there's a healthy amount of bartering going on over at the Facebook event page, so keep an eye out.

Sat 20 Aug

Family
The Whiskey Jar, 10pm, £5

In aid of Shine Cancer Support, MS Society and ReThink, with all proceeds going to charity, DJs Chris Massey (Sprechen), Ronny Gill (Micron), Dave Owen (Sauce) and Giancarlo (Moving House) will all be spinning disco, house and synthwave in the Whiskey Jar basement.

Celesta x Zinc Piñata Party
Mantra Live, 5pm, £10

The Manchester weather can't ruin this one, as the organisers have hauled in a big clear-top marquee so you can stay dry (not accounting for sweat). Starting in the themed courtyard with pop-up tequila bars, free sombreros and light show, this first collab from the Celesta and Zinc labels then moves inside until 5am, promising Mexican vibes to the fullest. They've even brought in a Funktion One for the occasion.

Wet Play with Mori Ra
Aatma, 10.20pm, £5.05

Manchester's best party returns for the first time in 2016, with Japanese crate-digger Mori Ra in tow, 100% likely to be on the toppest of forms. The vibes are hard to describe for this one so we'll let them do it themselves. Remember to pick up a free copy of hugely collectable TUCK fanzine on your way in. Gotta catch 'em all.

Doodle's 5th birthday with Francis Inferno Orchestra
Soup Kitchen, 26 Aug, 11pm, £8

It's Doodle's fifth birthday, so to celebrate, they're inviting Australia's Francis Inferno Orchestra along for some dreamy house wizardry.

Warehouse Project 2016
Various dates from 23 Sep, Store Street Warehouse

It's back! A load of nights have sold out already, of course, but highlights you can still buy tickets for include a Levelz bash, a Bugged Out! love-in with Daniel Avery, Jeremy Underground and Jimmy Edgar, and a heavy one from The Ape with Danny Brown, Wiley, Oneman and Wookie. Here's our round-up; full details over at the WHP website.

Festival watch

Book ahead for Moovin (26-28 Aug, Etherow Country Park, South Manchester), which should have some lovely feels – not least from Ruf Dug, Moonboots & Boardman, Justin Robertson and Red Laser Records head honcho DJ Woody.
