Eastern Bloc Records presents Crème Caramel
Eastern Bloc, 6pm, free

Tom Mallas and George Wright of Crème Caramel preview their fine collection of global cuts at a free do in yon Eastern Bloc record shop, in preparation for a Soup Kitchen appearance in October. As slinky as their name suggests.

The Deaf Institute's 8th birthday
The Deaf Institute, 6pm, free

One of Manchester's favourite venues celebrates its eighth annum in style with an evening of live music and DJs. Tickets for the gig (with Everything Everything, Dutch Uncles etc.) are sold out BUT you can get free tickets to the club event afterwards if you're quick! Grab 'em here.

Soup Kitchen 6th birthday: Part 1
with Joey Anderson
Soup Kitchen, 11pm, £10 

And it's another birthday bash over at Soup, celebrating its sixth year with New Jersey native Joey Anderson. Part 2 on 19 August welcomes the man, the legend, the one and only Move D. 

Hidden HQ Favs w/Martyn, Annabel Fraser, Blasha & Allat

The Hidden heads continue their series of nights showcasing their favourite selectors with Dutch futurist Martyn, joined by NTS Manchester's Annabel Fraser.

e n s e m b l e pre-party w/ Black Eyes & Akaram
Eastern Bloc, 6pm, free 

The Bloc crew are back promising an evening of slayers and neptune jazz courtesy of Black Eyes (Lost Control/Eastern Bloc) and Akaram (Eastern Bloc), serving as a warm-up to Ensemble's all-night party at the White Hotel

Simien Mountain Disco
First Chop Brewing Arm, 2pm, £12 

A fundraiser for Action Against Hunger brings together Drunk At Vogue's Greg Thorpe, Elbow's Craig Potter, local hero Pasta Paul and many more for an all-day party with a BBQ hosted by chef Mary-Ellen McTague, plus raffle, karaoke and other fun bits. 

RBMA Sound System afterparty: Levelz takeover
Hidden, 10pm, £6

Keeping things going after the Caribbean Carnival in Alexandra Park, the Levelz crew take over Hidden for a party hosted by RBMA Sound System featuring current hot topic Lady Leshurr. Big, big stuff.

Doodle's 5th birthday w/ Francis Inferno Orchestra
Soup Kitchen, 26 Aug, 11pm, £8

It's Doodle's fifth birthday, so to celebrate with something a little bit special, they're inviting Australia's Francis Inferno Orchestra along for some dreamy house wizardry.

Warehouse Project 2016

It's back! A load of nights have sold out already, of course, but highlights you can still buy tickets for include a Levelz bash, a Bugged Out! love-in with Daniel Avery, Jeremy Underground and Jimmy Edgar, and a heavy one from The Ape with Danny Brown, Wiley, Oneman and Wookie. Festival watch

Book ahead for Moovin (26-28 Aug, Etherow Country Park, South Manchester), which should have some right lovely feels – not least from Ruf Dug, Moonboots & Boardman, Justin Robertson and Red Laser Records head honcho DJ Woody, among others.
